What Sainik 710 is.
CenturyPly’s BWP grade plywood: veneers bonded with boiling water proof resin, so the glue holds when the board gets wet instead of letting go.
BWP grade, to IS 303
CenturyPly states Sainik 710 is made in compliance with IS 303, the Indian standard for general purpose plywood, in its BWP — boiling water proof — grade. That is the top grade the standard sets for bonding.
Built for wet rooms
The bond is tested in boiling water and made not to delaminate. That is what lets it sit under a sink or behind a wash basin for years without the plies coming apart.
Protected against borer and termite
CenturyPly treats the glue line against borers and termites, and backs it with a 10 year warranty against borer and termite attack — printed on the sheet itself.
A name carpenters already know
Sainik is one of the most familiar plywood names in the trade, so your carpenter is unlikely to be meeting it for the first time.
Make sure it’s genuine.
A well-known name gets copied. A sheet with a familiar-looking stamp is not the same as a sheet CenturyPly made, and the difference only shows once the kitchen is already built.
What to look for on the face
Turn the sheet over and read the stamp before it is cut. Genuine Sainik 710 says so on itself.
- The ISI markPrinted beside IS 303, the Indian standard the board is made to, in BWP grade.
- The maker’s nameCentury Plyboards (India) Limited, printed on the sheet itself.
- Glue line protectionThe GLP mark, for the borer and termite protection built into the glue line.
- The warranty markThe 10 year warranty star, printed on the face beside the formaldehyde class.

The 10 year warranty only stands behind board CenturyPly made. A copy carries the name and none of the cover.
BWP or BWR?
Not every job needs the top grade. We stock both, and we would rather sell you the right one than the dearer one.

Where water is a daily fact, BWP
Kitchen carcasses, under-sink units, bathroom vanities and wash areas. This is the job Sainik 710 is bought for, and where a lower grade is a false saving.

Where moisture is occasional, BWR can be enough
Boiling water resistant plywood handles humidity and the odd splash, and suits much furniture outside the wet zone.

For dry rooms, don’t overpay
Wardrobes, beds and storage in bedrooms and living rooms do not need boiling water proof bonding. MR grade does that work.

A note on the name
“710” is part of the product name. If your drawing or tender specifies IS 710 marine plywood by standard number, tell us — that is a different standard, and we’ll advise before you buy.
