Pidilite’s bus has been on Indian television for decades. The point it makes — a joint that does not come apart — is why the tin is on our shelf.
What Fevicol is.
Pidilite’s adhesive brand, and the default in Indian joinery for over sixty years. Less a product than a shelf of them, each mixed for a different surface.
The product Pidilite started with
Pidilite began in 1959 with one factory making one thing: Fevicol, a white synthetic resin adhesive meant to replace the animal glue a carpenter had to melt down before he could use it. Everything else the company sells came after.
A range, not a tin
Most people say “Fevicol” and mean one white glue. Pidilite makes a separate grade for lamination, for wet areas, for heat, for PVC and acrylic, for work against a deadline, and for spraying onto a ceiling.
A name the carpenter already trusts
Nobody on site has to be talked into it. That matters more than it sounds — an adhesive the carpenter is used to gets applied the way it is meant to be.
Certified where it counts
Pidilite lists several of the woodworking grades — Hi-Per Star, Probond, Relam and Plastiklok — as GreenPro certified, which is worth having on a project that has to account for what goes into it.
The cheapest thing in the job.
Adhesive is a small fraction of what a kitchen or a wardrobe costs, and it is usually the part that shows when something goes wrong. The bubble in the laminate, the edge curling above the hob, the beading lifting off a panel — the laminate gets blamed, or the board does. It is almost always the glue, or the wrong glue for that surface.

A bubble is a bond that never happened
Once a laminate has bubbled there is no fixing it from the outside — the sheet comes off and goes on again. Heavier decorative sheets are the usual victims, which is exactly why Pidilite makes an anti-bubble grade instead of leaving it to technique.

Heat is the part people forget
The strip of shutter above a hob, the panel beside a chimney, a wardrobe on a west wall in May. An ordinary adhesive softens where it gets hot, and the edge opens first. A heat resistant grade costs a little more on one tin and settles the question.

PVC and acrylic are not laminate
An acrylic sheet or a PVC beading does not take glue the way a decorative laminate does. Stuck down with the general-purpose tin it holds at first and peels later — usually at a corner, where it is most visible.

Water does not have to be a flood
Nothing has to leak for a bond to fail. Steam off a cooker, a mopped floor under a wardrobe plinth, a vanity wiped down every morning. In a wet room the adhesive has to be as water resistant as the board, or the board outlives the joint.

Fevicol SH
The standard white synthetic resin adhesive, and the one most jobs run on. Plywood, wood, particle board, MDF, laminate and veneer in ordinary dry work.
Fevicol Marine
The water resistant grade, for lamination and joinery in kitchens, bathrooms, wash areas and anywhere damp is part of the room’s routine.
Fevicol Hi-Per
Pidilite’s anti-bubble adhesive, made for lamination where the sheet is heavy and the finished face has to stay flat. Quick tack, and strong water resistance with it.
Fevicol HeatX
The heat resistant grade, for surfaces that live near cooking and appliances. Pidilite makes a point of it needing no masking tape, clamping or nailing, and it holds laminate down on a curve instead of letting it spring back.
Fevicol SpeedX
Quick setting, for a site working to a date and for long runs of lamination where waiting is the expensive part.
Fevicol Probond
Made for PVC and acrylic — acrylic sheet, PVC laminate, and PVC beading onto plywood or MDF, where a general-purpose adhesive is the wrong tool.
Fevicol SR 998
The rubber based contact adhesive, with grab from the moment the two surfaces meet. Laminates, decorative sheets and flexible surfaces that will not sit still while a glue dries.
Fevicol Ezee Spray
Spray application, for ceilings, high panels and the reaches where a brush and a roller are more trouble than the job is worth.
Which Fevicol?
The surface and the room decide it, not the budget. We would rather sell the right grade than the dearest one — and for most of a house, the right grade is the plain one.

Dry rooms, ordinary board — SH
Bedroom wardrobes, storage, beds, study units, the back half of most furniture. Nothing in a dry room asks more of an adhesive than SH gives, and a waterproof or heat resistant grade there buys nothing you will ever see.

Where water is routine — Marine
Kitchen carcasses, the sink unit, bathroom vanities, utility and wash areas. This is the one place we will argue with a customer who wants to save on glue.

Where the face has to stay flat — Hi-Per
Large shutters, full-height wardrobe fronts, heavier decorative laminates. Anywhere a bubble would be looked at every day.

Near heat — HeatX
Hob surrounds, chimney sides, the panel behind an oven or a fridge, and curved work where the laminate wants to spring back off the form.

PVC, acrylic and beading — Probond
Acrylic shutters, PVC laminate, PVC beading on plywood or MDF. A different surface, and a different tin.

Glue cannot rescue the wrong board
If a kitchen carcass is built from a board that was never meant to get wet, no adhesive will save it. In wet rooms the board has to be right first — BWP plywood or a boiling water proof panel — and the adhesive is then asked to match it.

Every joint in an interior job, including most of the ones nobody sees.
Lamination on board
Decorative laminate onto plywood, MDF, HDHMR and particle board — the bulk of what the carton is bought for.
Kitchens and wardrobes
Carcasses, shutters, shelves and drawer boxes, where the adhesive has to outlast years of daily use.
Doors, edges and beading
Edge banding, lipping, PVC and wooden beading, and the trim work that finishes a shutter.
Site joinery and repairs
Frames, partitions, panelling and the running repairs a carpenter makes on the job. The fitting is the carpenter’s work, not ours — we supply what it is done with.
