What Boilo is.
A boiling water proof, fire retardant HDF board, and the top of the Action TESA range. Where HDHMR resists moisture, Boilo is built for the jobs where water simply stands there and nobody gets to come back and fix it later.
Boiling water proof
Not moisture resistant, not water repellent. The board is made for standing water and wash-down, which is why it ends up in toilet cubicles and wet floors.
Fire retardant
Tested for fire retardancy against IS 5509, the Indian Standard for fire retardant panels. That is the box a commercial or institutional specification usually needs ticked.
Termite and borer proof
Backed by termite testing certification from IPRITI, the government plywood research institute, rather than by a line on a brochure.
Dense and rigid
High density right through, with rigidity tested against the structural plywood standard, IS 10701. It carries load rather than just covering a surface.
It holds a screw, wet
Action TESA rates its screw holding as unaffected even after boiling water. On most boards, water and screws are exactly where the failure starts.
A face made to finish
Dense, smooth and low absorbency, so paint goes further and polish sits properly. It comes grey, and can be finished as coloured HDF.
Tested, not just claimed.
Every board in the market says it resists water. Boilo is unusual in that the claims are attached to named standards and a third party certificate — which is the difference that matters when you are specifying for someone else’s building.

A named Indian Standard, not an adjective. If your drawing or tender calls for a fire retardant panel, this is the one on our floor that answers it.

Termite proofing certified by IPRITI
The Indian Plywood Industries Research and Training Institute tests it. A certificate from an outside institute is worth more than any assurance we or the seller down the road could give you.

Rigidity measured against the plywood standard
Its stiffness is tested against IS 10701, the structural plywood standard — which is the honest way to compare a board against the plywood it is replacing.

Ask for the papers
For institutional and commercial work, ask us and we will get you the manufacturer’s test documentation to put in the file. That is a fair thing to ask of any supplier, and a short conversation with the ones who cannot produce it.
Boilo or HDHMR?
Both handle water. They are not priced the same, and most jobs do not need the more expensive one.
Choose HDHMR
For kitchen shutters, wardrobes, vanities and door shutters — rooms that get wet in normal use but where water is not sitting on the board. It is the sensible rate for most interior work. See the HDHMR page →
Choose Boilo
For standing water, wash-down areas, load bearing surfaces, and anywhere a fire specification applies. Toilet cubicles are the classic case: constant water, public use, and no appetite for replacing them in three years.
