What a Z-on door is.
A PVC door made for the rooms that ruin wooden ones. Water does not swell it, termites have nothing to eat, and the finish is a foil pressed onto the face rather than a polish that has to be redone.
Waterproof, not water resistant
PVC does not absorb water. A bathroom door can stand in a wet doorway for years without the bottom rail swelling, splitting or coming apart.
Nothing for termites to eat
There is no timber in the leaf, so borers and termites have no interest in it. In a ground floor bathroom that is worth a great deal.
No painting, no polishing
The face comes finished from the factory. A wipe with a damp cloth is the maintenance, and there is no repolishing every few years.
A finished look for less
A Z-on door lands well below a comparable wooden or veneered door, which is why it has taken over bathroom and utility doorways.
Standard door sizes
Made in widths from 25 to 33 inches and heights from 75 to 89 inches, so most standard doorways are covered. Measure yours before you ask for a rate.
PVC, WPC or an HPL face
The grooving and digital designs come on a PVC or a WPC leaf, and the fluted range carries an HPL face. Tell us the room and we’ll say which suits it.
What’s inside decides how long it lasts.
Every PVC door looks the same from a metre away. The difference is what is behind the face — and the cheap ones are close to hollow. Scroll through the build and watch the leaf come together.
A sealed PVC back sheet
The leaf starts as a PVC foam sheet with the decorative film already bonded to it, so the back of the door is finished and sealed before anything else goes near it.
Solid PVC foam rails
A dense foam frame runs right around the leaf. This is what a hinge screw and a lock body actually bite into, and what stops the edge crushing when the door is shut hard.
Hollow MS pipes
Mild steel square pipes lock inside the rails and carry the weight of the leaf. Hollow rather than solid, so the door has a spine without hanging heavy on its hinges.
A cellular PVC core
The middle is filled with ridged rigid sheet running the length of the door. It gives the leaf its body, deadens sound and takes the shock out of a slam.
Foil, embossed, then pressed on
The front sheet is foiled and embossed, then pressed onto the structure under weight. The pattern is in the board, not printed on top of it, so it does not wear off the high points.
One piece, not a hollow shell
Pressed together, that stack is what you hang: waterproof through and through, nothing in it for a termite, and a face that never needs polishing. Ask us to show you a cut section at the counter — it is the quickest way to see the difference from a hollow door at half the rate.

Moulded doors
The everyday range. Sixteen panelled designs, ZN-02 to ZN-17, pressed into the face. The usual answer for a bathroom or bedroom door.

Grooving doors
Grooves and inlay lines cut into a flat face, in PVC or WPC. A plainer, more modern look than a panelled door.

An HPL face instead of foil, in the fluted look. The hardest wearing surface in the range, for doors handled all day.

A sample of the wood-grain foils the doors are finished in. Z-on numbers them — the standard foils and a premium set on top of those — so if you have seen a shade you like, quote its number and we’ll tell you what can be had.
Screens show colour differently. Come and see the foil against the light before you settle on a shade for a whole floor.
Where a PVC door belongs — and where it doesn’t.
We sell wooden and flush doors too, so there is no reason for us to pretend PVC is the answer to every doorway.

Bathrooms and toilets: yes
This is the doorway PVC was made for. Wet floors, steam and a door that gets splashed every day are exactly where a wooden leaf starts to fail.

Utility, wash and back doors: yes
Anywhere water is around and the door is not on show. Low maintenance matters more here than anything else.

Bedrooms and internal doors: usually
Plenty of homes now use them throughout. Pick a heavier design and a foil that suits the rest of the woodwork.

Main entrance doors: no
A front door needs the weight, the security and the sun resistance of a wooden or flush door. Ask us for a flush or membrane door instead — we will not sell you a PVC door for a main entrance.

Doors in direct sun: think again
Long exposure to harsh sun is hard on any foil finish. For an open terrace or an exposed balcony, tell us and we’ll point you at something better suited.
