What a laminated door is.

A solid flush shutter with laminate bonded to both faces in a hot press, and the design made out of the laminate itself — two shades meeting, a groove cut through, or a metal profile let into the joint.

Hardwood core, seasoned and treated

Kiln seasoned hardwood battens, treated against borer and termite, with solid filling at the bottom and the rails — so the lock and the hinges have something to bite into.

Phenol bonded, hot pressed

MUF and PF resins under heat and pressure. That is the same family of glue that makes a BWP plywood waterproof, used here to hold the laminate down.

Both faces, at the same time

Laminate goes on the front and the back together, so the shutter is balanced and does not cup towards the finished side.

Three design families

Dual Mica sets two laminates against each other on one face. Grooving cuts the pattern through the laminate into the core. T-Profile lets a metal strip into the line between them.

Ready to install

No painting, no varnish, no polish. It is an interior door and it arrives finished on both sides.

Standard door sizes

Made in heights from 72 to 84 inches and widths from 26 to 38 inches. Other designs and sizes are possible on a bulk order — ask before you assume.

Laminate stuck on at the site comes off at the site.

Every carpenter in Kanpur can put mica on a flush door. A hot press does the same job differently, and the difference shows up two summers later.

Cold glue versus a hot press

On site the sheet is laid with contact adhesive and pressed by hand or with weight. In the factory it is bonded with resin under heat and real pressure, across the whole face at once. One of those makes a bubble at the corner; the other does not.
The edge is where it starts

A site-laminated door is trimmed after the sheet is down, so the laminate ends at a raw edge. Catch it with a bag or a mop handle often enough and it lifts. A factory-pressed face is finished and edged before it leaves.
One face laminated is a door that bends

Laminate pulls as it settles. Put it on the front only, or press the front today and the back next week, and the shutter goes out of true. Both faces together, in one press, is the whole point.
The design is cut, not assembled

Inlays, grooves and metal profiles are cut into the face on a machine before pressing. Nothing is glued on top, so there is no strip waiting to catch and peel.
Where it is not the right door

It is an interior door. A bathroom, a toilet or an exposed outer doorway wants a waterproof shutter instead. And cutting or sizing a door is the carpenter’s work — the store does not do it, so order the size you need.

Dual Mica.

Two laminates on one face, cut to meet along a line — wood against graphite, chevrons, hexagons, a marble strip run across the diagonal. The modern half of the book, and the half that sells in new flats. Codes run FAM-1001 to FAM-1039.

Grooving Mica.

The pattern is cut through the laminate and a little way into the core, so the line reads as a shadow rather than a printed stripe. Traditional motifs and plain linear work both live here. Codes run FAM-1040 to FAM-1056.

A shadow line, not a print

Because the groove has depth, the design changes as the light moves across the door. A printed face never does that.

It is cut after pressing, so the edges of the groove are clean laminate rather than a routed shape covered over afterwards.
Where it suits

A bedroom or a pooja doorway where a panelled look is wanted but the room is otherwise plain and modern.
Cleaning

A dry cloth along the groove, not a wet one. That is the one place on the door that is worth a second look while dusting.

T-Profile Mica.

A slim metal profile let into the joint between two laminates — gold, rose gold or steel. It is the detail that makes a flat door look designed rather than plain, and it works as well over stone and marble laminates as over wood. Codes run FAM-1057 to FAM-1067.
